Draining the coolant

Draining the coolant

In order to be able to fulfil its role effectively, the engine does this with the help of the coolant. The coolant circulates in the cooling circuit, which in turn requires maintenance. And for this nothing beats bleeding and draining the coolant.

DRAIN THE COOLING SYSTEM

For the engine to perform its function efficiently and function properly over time, it is important to perform a coolant change. Normally this should be done every 2 or 4 years or 50,000 km.

Nowadays, draining is done by a coolant purging and replacement machine like Flash Cooling®. Why is that? Because with this type of machine it is possible to drain the coolant, but also to check the tightness of the circuit. It also makes it possible to re-inject new coolant and to recycle used coolant. Of course, with this type of machine, vehicle owners encounter fewer problems during the oil change operation.

It must be said that the whole operation is easy and simple. Easy, because all you have to do is connect the machine directly to the expansion tank. It is compatible for all petrol, diesel, electric and hybrid vehicles and does not require any dismantling.

THE ROLE THAT COOLANT PLAYS

The engine operates safely thanks to the coolant that circulates throughout the cooling system. The role of the coolant is therefore no minor one, as it helps protect the engine from overheating and freezing.

As the liquid loses its properties and qualities over time, it is imperative to replace it regularly. Depending on the manufacturer’s recommendations, it must be replaced every 50,000 kilometres or every 2 or 4 years.

As far as the special feature of the coolant is concerned, it only starts to boil above 100°C and only freezes at temperatures that are considered to be very low.
